Jeremy Soldevilla

After a career as a Boston publisher, Jeremy Soldevilla moved to Montana with his wife Melissa and their two dogs, Oliver and Lizzie. They owned and operated a bed and breakfast in Bozeman, where, between making beds and breakfasts, skiing and fishing, he began writing novels. Thief Creek is the first of those novels.

Much of the inspiration for his books comes from his travels throughout Montana. His favorite quote about Montana is from Travels with Charley by John Steinbeck: “The next passage in my journey is a love affair. I am in love with Montana. For other states I have admiration, respect, recognition, even some affection, but with Montana it is love, and it’s difficult to analyze love when you’re in it… It seems to me that Montana is a great splash of grandeur. The scale is huge but not overpowering. The land is rich with grass and color, and the mountains are the kind I would create if mountains were ever put on my agenda.”

My favorite authors
Cormac McCarthy, Craig Lancaster, Thomas McGuane, CJ Box, Ron McLarty, Larry McMurtry, Katherine Dunn, Preston and Childs, John Irving, A.B. Guthrie, Jr., Annie Proulx, Charles Bukowski, James Lee Burke

My favorite quote about writing:
“A professional writer is an amateur who didn’t quit.” — Richard Bach
